Vaccinations

Please note that we are very strict about our vaccination policies and reserve the right to refuse to board without proof of vaccinations. We do not call your Vet's Office to verify vaccines and we do not have a fax machine, so please bring a copy with you.

  • Vaccination of DHPP For Dogs
  • Vaccination of Bordetella for Dogs
  • Vaccination of FVRCP for Cats
  • Vaccination of Rabies for Dogs and Cats

A note regarding BORDETELLA:
Most veterinarians will not vaccinate for Bordetella unless you request it. Please make sure your dog/cat has the required vaccines prior to check-in.

Food

We serve breakfast and dinner that you provide for the duration of your dog's stay. For timely meal delivery and complete accuracy, we require that your pet's meals or treats are portioned per serving in zip locked bags with your pet's name clearly labeled. Unfortunately, we cannot store containers, scoops, or large bags of dog food. Any food not packaged per our policy, will be assessed a special handling fee. If you prefer, we offer our house food, Tuscan Natural Lamb/Rice formula for a nominal fee. We can accommodate any diet and there is no charge for this service. We provide clean and sanitized bowls at every meal. Fresh water is always available 24 hours/day.

Bedding

All of our dog suites are provided with clean bedding daily. You may bring your own pet's bed/blanket clearly labeled with his/her name. Bedding/blankets brought from home must be able to fit in our washers.

Our cat condos are also furnished with comfy bedding for a perfect nights slumber.
You may also bring a few toys or personal items for your pets. For safety reasons, please do not bring rawhides.

Common Questions

Q. My dog or cat has never been boarded. What should I expect?

A. The majority of pets adjust readily to the boarding routine. Many enjoy seeing all the other "boarders" and even thrive on the activity and attention. However, first-time boarders MAY be nervous about their first day, but our staff is attentive to your pet's needs and will provide special attention if needed. We also realize that not all pets are comfortable in a boarding facility despite the attention from staff. We would be happy to refer you to in-home pet care if needed.

Q. Are there vet services if my pet gets sick while being boarded?

A. We have contacts with local vets and emergency clinics if your pet becomes ill during its stay. We require your vet's phone number and an emergency contact person besides yourself.

Q. My pet is so thirsty when she comes home from a boarding visit. Doesn't she get water when she's with you? Or, why won't she drink when she's being boarded?

A. Pets will frequently become very thirsty from the excitement and stress of seeing their family and loved ones again when they're picked up. It's natural and you should expect your pet to be a bit thirsty from all the excitement once you get them home.

While in our care, pets are monitored carefully for their consumption of fresh water, which is continuously checked and refreshed throughout the day. And, just like the excitement of coming home, when they first are checked-in and settled in their suite, they will tend to become very thirsty. We watch this carefully, and are sure to provide plenty of fresh water upon check-in to get the pet fully hydrated. After the first 30 minutes or so, they settle into the new routine, get comfortable, and establish regular eating and drinking habits.

Q. Why does my dog smell when I pick him up after being boarded?

A. At the Animal Den Pet Resort & Spa, we are meticulous in cleaning, and use disinfectants to keep our facility spotless. However, in the close quarters of a boarding facility amongst other pet guests, a dog's natural odor may become more noticeable.

Certain customers may also be more sensitive to pet odors after having not been with an animal for a while. We recommend scheduling a grooming appointment prior to his/her departure.

Q. My pet has a long coat and requires brushing daily.

A. Long coated pets will need regular grooming during their stay. We will provide the necessary grooming at a nominal fee.

Q. Can I visit the kennel before boarding?

A. Yes. We encourage you to come and tour our resort before you make reservations. Tours are available during regular open hours, but if this is inconvenient then you may visit by appointment. During your tour you may experience loud barking as you go through our dog rooms. Our dog guests are not used to "strangers" walking by their rooms and disturbing the normal flow of the boarding routine. You'll notice once you exit the room, the barking settles and the room resumes normalcy. We strive for a quiet/peaceful facility, but dogs barking are natural in this type of environment.

Q. Can my dog/cat stay at the resort if he/she doesn't get along with other animals?

A. Yes. We can make special arrangements to have your pet isolated from other guests during his/her stay. Please advise us of this special request upon making your reservation.

Q. My dog had his Bordetella vaccine. Why did he still get kennel cough while staying at your facility?

A. Although Bordetella is a good protector against kennel cough, it does not cover all strands of the kennel cough virus (just as a flu shot doesn't protect humans against all strands of the flu). Also some dogs are more susceptible to picking up the kennel cough virus despite being vaccinated against it. Please talk to your DVM regarding kennel cough protection.
